On January 13, 2023, Tesla announced a significant price cut for Model 3 and Model Y models.

The new prices for the Model 3 are now as follows:

    • 44990€ for the Model 3 Propulsion
    • 52990€ for the Model 3 Long range

These rates also include black or white paint on the Model Y.

This price drop is explained by Tesla by economies of scale at the global level and a decrease in inflation on certain materials. This is great news for prospects looking to buy a high-end electric vehicle. The Model 3 and Model Y models are becoming more affordable and will certainly fill the order books thanks to these new rates.

Unfortunately, the new Model S and Model X aren’t going down.

What about the ecological bonus?

This is the second piece of good news, Tesla has managed to line up under the €47,000 mark for the Propulsion versions of the Y and 3, so they can both benefit from the new €5,000 bonus and you can even choose between black and white. This is new.

After bonus a Model Y propulsion costs only € 41,990! The Model 3 is displayed 39 990 €, in both cases it is very good rates.

What are the impacts for current customers?

It is important to note that this price drop does not only affect new buyers. For orders in progress, Tesla will readjust the bills downwards, future owners will then have a good surprise in a few days. Invoices will be corrected automatically, if not, contact your seller.

On the other hand, it will be more complicated for customers who have just taken possession of their cars after paying a high price. The price of second-hand goods will mechanically fall in the same proportions. Not sure that the 10,000 km of charging offered at the end of December are enough to lower the grumble. Some are already considering seeking compensation from Tesla.
