Model Y, 2 or 3 new colors?

Everyone was waiting for three new colors, only two are available, or passed the third?

Failing to make a lot of paint flow this subject will have flowed a lot of ink on the Tesla forums, indeed we were already talking about it a year ago, in October 2021: “In the source code of the recent update to the Tesla app were also references to three new color options: Deep Crimson Multicoat, Abyss Blue Multicoat and Mercury Silver Metallic”

From dream to reality ….

After this long wait before the start of production everyone expected to see the 3 new colors arrive simultaneously, finally the new multilayer blue disappeared. Permanently or temporarily? Let’s hope it arrives quickly, it is one of the most anticipated colors. Some have even modeled the possible outcome:

Good news all the same the new shades are superb, it is a shame that they replace the old dark gray and multilayer red. Tesla still offers only 5 colors in the catalog, it is weak, very weak even compared to other manufacturers. Streamlining has won the battle over personalization.

Rising rates

For once the European market is ahead of the US or China, these new colors are currently only available on Model Y LR and Performance produced in Germany, they will soon arrive on our roads.

– Multilayer Pearl White – standard
– Plain Black – €1,200
– Ultramarine Blue Metallic – €1,600
– Midnight Cherry Red – €3,200 (NEW)
– Quicksilver – €3,000 (NEW)

“Only the Giga Berlin factory can manufacture these colors, as the paint shop was purpose-built to apply many thin layers of paint, giving it complexity that is otherwise impossible.”

Soon on other Tesla?

Now that the Berlin factory is able to produce these new colors we can imagine that they will be available in the future for other Tesla and for other Gigafactory, I am thinking for example of the Model 3 or Model Y Propulsion which do not yet benefit from them and are very often delivered in white.

For my part, I really like these new shades, and what do you think? Go and order them? Will this make you change your car?
